Punjab Agro Juices Limited (PAJL) in collaboration with Punjabi University-Patiala developed a "Limopan" (a nutraceuticals product developed from the Bio-waste of kinnow fruit) :-
- A joint Collaborative Research Agreement has been signed by Punjab Agro Juices Limited (PAJL) with Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP) on 08th August, 2017 for development of 'LIMOPAN'.
- The pomance (bio-waste of kinnow) collected from Punjab Agro Juices Limited Plants (situated at Abohar and Hoshiarpur) has been got dried from external sources; converted into powder form by Punjabi University-Patiala (PUP); Super Critical Fluid Extractions has been got done from various research & testing institutes throughout the country; Limopan samples have been got prepared by Punjabi University-Patiala and then got packed from the outside agency.
- Further, a trial on animals/chicks has been got conducted at Department of Animal Nutrition, GADVASU-Ludhiana in 2016-17 on behalf of Punjab Agro Juices Limited and the report has been received which is favourable.
- After that, a Confidential & Non-Disclosure Agreement has been signed by Punjab Agro Juices Limited on 05th April, 2017 with National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Mohali (NIPER) and the Toxicology studies has been got completed in 2018.
- Clinical Trials on Humans are also being conducted at a premier Medical & Research Institute in the State of Punjab (India).
- A patent has also been registered under the name of 'LIMOPAN' (Nutraceutical developed from the bio-waste of Kinnow fruit).
During the processing of wide variety of fruits & vegetables at PAJL Plants, a lot of bio-waste is generated, whose initial trials suggest enormous benefits.
